I will not be broken...

I will not be broken by violence.

I will not be broken by fear. 

I will not be broken by sadness.

I will not be broken by failed leadership. 

I will rise up.

I will continue to love.

I will continue to fight. 

I will continue to stand in solidarity with all those who experience discrimination. 

I will stand with the families, friends and communities rocked by violence and loss.

I will not be silent. 

These words are the first thing that came out of me when I sat down to write about recent events. I thought about writing something after Alton Sterling, but the words weren't there yet. Then Philando Castile happened and I was rocked again. And just as I started writing Dallas happened. There are too many incidents, too many names, too much life lost. What will it take to rise up to end this? What will it take to be better? I know we can be better. We have to be better.

Do not be silent. Do not give into fear. Fight for love.
